The 14th CAAV Young Valuers’ Conference (for members aged 40 and under) is being held at Stowe House in Buckinghamshire. An impressive Grade I listed stately home, now used as an independent school, set in grounds and parkland designed by ‘Capability’ Brown. It provides an interesting set-up with Stowe House being owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust and the grounds owned by the National Trust.
The MORNING CONFERENCE session will include: Negotiating Compensation Claims – Best Practice; Future Skills for Advice Provision Post-Brexit; and the ‘Commercial network’. Speakers include: Nick Millard MRICS FAAV REV, Kate Russell MRICS FAAV, Peter Morris LLB, Jeremy Moody – CAAV Secretary and Adviser, and Scott Parker, National Trust.
The AFTERNOON VISIT will be in the extensive grounds of Stowe School, with a variety of speakers from the Stowe School Preservation Trust and the National Trust at four locations around the site. These presentations will cover: An overview of the management of Stowe House; asset exchange and the golf course project; the “At risk register”, major projects and fundraising; and, rural surveying at Stowe and commercial opportunities/challenges.

The evening DRINKS RECEPTION and three course BLACK TIE DINNER will be in the beautifully restored State Rooms in Stowe House, a venue famous for entertaining royalty in the estate’s heyday during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Followed by a late bar/disco (cost inclusive for delegates. Non-CAAV guests and partners are most welcome – £60.00 per ticket – B & B is also available).
BED & BREAKFAST overnight on Friday 12th April will be on-site at Stowe House which has an excellent standard of accommodation and plenty of parking (cost inclusive for delegates). B & B is also available on Thursday 11th April for those wishing to stay the night before.
On Thursday 11th April, there will be an informal YOUNG VALUERS’ SOCIAL for those staying at Stowe House the evening before. This will be at a local, 17th century village pub, The Wheatsheaf, Maids Moreton, MK18 1QR, which is 5 minutes’ drive from Stowe House.
Drinks from 7.30 p.m. A two-course meal (£15.00 per person) will be served at 8 p.m.
