SAAVA open Valuers Association in Central Scotland

The Scottish Agricultural Arbiters & Valuers Association, the membership organisation for professional advisors to farmers, is set to launch a Central Scotland branch on Wednesday 26th August.

Following the affiliation of SAAVA (Scottish Agricultural Arbiters and Valuers Association) with CAAV (Central Association of Agricultural Valuers) a number of regional associations have been set up across Scotland.

The meeting on 26th August will discuss the proposal to set up a Central Scotland Agricultural Valuers Association to provide a more local base for both SAAVA/CAAV members and others interested, for an area stretching roughly from Pitlochry in the North to the Lothian’s in the South, although membership will also be open to those interested, but not within the area.

The aim of the group will be to create a forum for members across the range of interests SAAVA cover, including land agents, arbiters and valuers, solicitors, financial professionals including accountants and bankers, farmers, and farm managers, across Central Scotland.

The branch will be the fifth for the association, and James Dick, SAAVA President, said: “We already cover quite a lot of the country, but there was a big space in the middle, which has a significant number of professionals working in it, who we hope will benefit from having a local presence. As we have a number of branches across Scotland, we felt the next natural step was to open a Central Scotland branch. This event on the 26th will be its first official meeting.

“At the early evening meeting visit to Loch Leven’s Larder on the shores of Loch Leven, east of Kinross, Robin Niven, the owner, will tell us something about his hugely successful operation, while other agricultural diversification issues will be addressed by additional speakers.”
